Chicken Head I am drinking an original coors, we talked of that beer many times, for you. I have Saint Jude and our Lord Jesus candles burning in your memory. I only wish, like many of my friends at work, that I had gotten to know you beyond work. God bless you and your family. I am sorry I could not attend your memorial, but I will have mine in private to commemorate your life. Go Dons.

I just learn of Dave's passing today. I had ran into Dave a few months ago in Clovis after a very long time, and I had the pleasure of introducing my teenage son to him. Dave had my son in laughter in a couple of minutes of meeting him. Ol "Chicken Head" as we used to call him back in the day, hadn't lost his touch. He was a always a cheerful person, never had anything bad to say about anyone.
I'm kind of lost for words as this came as a complete shock to me.
My condolences to his daughter and family.

We have always felt honored to have Dave and his family as friends. When we moved to the Peninsula, the Goularts took us under their wing and made us feel part of the community. Dave was one of the hardest working members of our high school wrestling team and was bound and determined to represent Monterey High in the state championships in 1978. We had 4 very tough senior kids that all weighed 154 lbs. David volunteered to bump up to the 175 lbs weight class and, because of his many years in Judo with Sensei Baptiste, felt confident he could handle the "big boys." Throughout the state qualifying tournament, Dave's grandpa became upset because he thought the crowd was becoming disrespectful by constantly booing his grandson - hearing everyone yelling, and screaming "Boo, Boo." Todd immediately straightened things out by letting him know the crowd was yelling, "Goo, Goo" - which motivated Dave into the finals of the CCS tournament and representing our school at the state championships in San Diego the following weekend.
We feel lucky to have stayed in touch with Dave over these 35 years, keeping up with his continuing passion for wrestling and more recently with the joy of running with and watching his daughter compete. We're going to miss him.

My sincerest and deepest condolences to Danielle and the Goulart Family.
I have had the privilege and honor to call David "Goo" Goulart - my friend for the last twenty years. Upon admittance to Central California College, School of Law, I came across a certain classmate who sported a brownish blonde brushy Magnum P.I. style moustache. My classmate was friendly, kind, and sometimes equally serious; even grim on occasion. Goo however, was always the busy responsible professional and parent; on the go and ready to leave for out of town on a moment's notice. His truck, ice chest, and provisions, always ready for a long journey to work or back home.
Often, after class and before he left for work, we spoke outside in the college parking lot, where we'd jib jab about the pounding we just took during Judge Dupra's Criminal Law lecture and question/answer sessions each week. Goo always stressed the importance of being pleasant but aware of place and people, for that's what his training and experience required of him. At the end of the First Year, Goo, I, and Others from our class traveled up North to take the First Year Law Students Examination (The Baby Bar). After the test, we discussed the difficulty of the experience itself and became long-time friends after that. Although years sometimes passed, where I'd leave Fresno for a time and return, I periodically would run into Goo and we'd quickly pick up right where we left off, even though three or four years would pass. "We'd quickly exchange pleasantries, then later: renew our eternal pledge to complete our legal coursework and become practicing Attorneys."
Since the late 90's, I often ran into the entire Goulart Family; David, Danielle, and her Mother at Uncle Harry's in North Fresno. Often, Goo and I would sit there and discuss current events; Danielle and her Mom would just listen politely and smile for the most part, and after the last bite of bagel or sip of coffee, everybody would quickly part, running off to take care of their daily lives until the next visit. Goo often talked about getting Danielle into Track and Field; the way that he did when he was in high school. Sometimes, Goo would spice things up a tad, sharing a story or two about his experiences as a corrections officer and "life on the job." We'd talk about relationships, our children, and former classmates from law school that went on into professional practice, and even those who ended up perhaps - a little side-tracked by it all..
Goo's little one: Danielle came up often. Goo always impressed, that Danielle and the quality of her life was his highest commitment in life; that she have a quality educational experience. Last fall, Goo took me with him to look for a sound investment property that could be professionally converted into a college sorority home near the CSUF college campus.. This fall, we fould ourselves hanging out at Blast Fitness and enjoying either a soda, coffee, or a bagel after our morning workouts. David and I were a couple of young college graduates who took on the challenge of law school and became two Juris Doctor Candidates, attending Central California College, School of Law. We went on in life to become very good friends.
- My friend "Goo" was one of the finest people that I have come to know in my life. He will be greatly missed.

I worked with David when he was a reserve officer with the Fresno Sheriff's Department. He was a very funny guy and very good at his job. I hadn't seen very much of him when he went to work for the State of California but A few years ago I ended up in the hospital in critical shape, he used to come by and cheer me up, it was much appreciated. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to his family.
