Obituary of David Goulart

David "Goo" Goulart and former resident of Monterey, CA passed away on November 15, 2013. Dave was a retired law enforcement officer for the State of California. Although Dave resided in Fresno his heart and roots were firmly entrenched in Monterey. Dave was a graduate of Monterey High, Monterey Peninsula College and Fresno State (Go Dawgs!). While attending Monterey High School, Dave was an accomplished and decorated wrestler. In 1978 he ended up in the finals of the Central Coast Section and also represented Monterey High in the CIF State wrestling championships held at San Diego State. Dave continued his wrestling beyond high school. He represented Cabrillo College in 1979, and won numerous titles/championships at the Police and Fire Olympic games. Dave made it back to Monterey every chance he could. He never missed the Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach, and was always interested in staying up to date with local Monterey news and events, especially as they related to commercial fishing, since David had a true love for the ocean. David chose to retire at an early age so he could spend more time with the love of his life, his daughter, Danielle. He was also taking classes again to prepare himself to teach Criminal Justice at the junior college level. Dave will be missed by all who knew him and were touched by his big heart. Dave gave tirelessly to others and was very supportive of his community and former school ties. He was the type of person that you could call in the middle of the night for help and he would be at your doorstep in minutes. He made all he came in contact with better with his generous heart and sense of humor. David Goulart is survived by his daughter, Danielle Goulart of Fresno; his sister, Diane Goulart of Aptos, CA; and his father, Frank "Toddy" Goulart of Del Rey Oaks, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, extended family members and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4:00-6:30pm followed by the Rosary at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey. Funeral Mass is on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 9:30am at San Carlos Cathedral, Monterey.
