My dear Uncle Fran, the last of my mom's siblings, has now passed away and I will miss him dearly. We didn't get to visit often, but when we did I was always a rich sharing of memories, his current projects and the wonder of what his surroundings showed us.
In some ways, visiting his house was like visiting a museum. I saw things I remembered from childhood, the wonderful knick knacks that Aunt Bernice collected, Uncle Fran's "hunting room," the fish, the turtles, the vegetable garden.
I especially loved sharing stories of family history and seeing all the wonderful pictures of our ancestors. He was a great collector of family lore and I hope someone continues the role of family historian. I would very much like to be in contact with whomever inherits the photos and all of the family history.
My mom, Edith, was the youngest of the four, and she told many stories about Uncle Fran. She loved him deeply and he loved her just as much. That love, I felt, was transferred to me and I always felt like a special person around him.
I remember walking to school and getting super excited when I saw a PG&E truck. I would always walk up and ask if they knew my Uncle Fran. I was just a kid who thought my uncle was famous and everyone would know him and everyone did. I'd always get a response of "Francie? Of course I know him. He's a great man."
Ricky, we never really knew each other, but my heart goes out to you. You remember when I took care of Aunt Lena's estate and I know how tough it will be for you to take care of your grandfather's estate. Any help or advice you need, just let me know. Joe knows how to get a hold of me.
Joe, you know how I feel. I know you feel your grandfather's loss probably more than anyone. My heart is with you. I love you much.
Hugs to your kids as well. I know they were all close with your granddad and will miss him dearly.
I am so sorry I didn't make it to the funeral. I didn't see the information in time and I would have liked to have been there.
Carry on as you know he would have wanted you to. He was a great man, honest, fair, loving and caring, freely sharing what he had with all those he called friends. He took to his heart many people that he called family whether related by blood or not.
In my book he is a hero, a true saint. May he rest in peace and enjoy a room in the mansion our Lord has built for us.

Dear Family,
My father, Manuel Venegas, worked with Francis at Pacific, Gas, and Electric for many years.
My father called him "Francie" as a nickname. My Dad also loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping and shared trips and excursions with "Francie".
I remember "Francie" very well and fondly. He was always nice to me when I was a little kid.
My condolences to you all,
"Betty" Venegas (now Elizabeth Elsensohn)

My Deepest Sympathy to all the family! I met Francis years ago through my Dad Bill Marbach who had the privilege of working together for many years at Pacific Gas and Electric in Monterey. I was only a kid when I first meet Francis. Dad and Francis shared many of the same likes away from work including Hunting and Fishing. I also worked with Francis in his later years at PG&E. I will never forget his warm smile and laughter. We also lived on Sunnyhill Ct. not far from his home. He was one of the finest workers I ever work alone side. I will miss him but remember him always.
Sincerely,
Ralph Marbach

I knew Fran and Bernice growing up on Sunnyhill Ct. being the oldest left before really getting to know them . My heartfelt sympathy to the family. He was a beloved neighbor to all on the court. When I heard the news from my brother Guy, all I could think was he's with Bernice and boys. Time does heal and memories will abide. AlaMae Voigt(Foster) God's Blessings:)
