Obituary of Francis Joseph Augusta

Monterey - Francis Joseph Augusta, age 94, passed away on Tuesday July 16th, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Francis touched everyone's lives with his big heart. He is deeply missed by all of his family and by the many other lives he touched. Francis was known for his loyalty and devotion to his family. Francis was born to the late Manual and Bella Augusta of Portugal on April 27, 1919, in Monterey. He was the youngest of four siblings: Lena, Edith, and Alice. Francis graduated from Monterey High School in 1937. He was married to the late Bernice Augusta in 1941. Francis worked for PG&E for 42 years. He was a loyal and devoted worker who enjoyed his time with PG&E. Fran and his wife were both long time members of the Monterey Moose Lodge where they spent much of their time together. Francis also enjoyed his time in the great outdoors hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He found hunting and fishing to be some of his most treasured hobbies in life. He also enjoyed spending time gardening in his beautiful backyard garden with his two turtles by his side. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, sharing stories of his proudest memories and cowboy days. Fran was preceded in death by his son Joseph Augusta. He is survived by his two grandsons: Joseph Augusta and Richard Augusta. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Joseph Augusta, Jr., Jarred Augusta, Matthew Augusta, Rebecca Augusta, Anita Bommarito, and his great-great-grandson Richard Bommarito. He is also survived by step-son Bill Reese and his family from Pasadena. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 5-7 pm with rosary at 7 pm at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey. A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 23rd at 10:30 am at Mission Mortuary with burial following at Monterey City Cemetery.
