Eleanor DeFranco

Obituary of Eleanor DeFranco

Seaside, CA -  Eleanor “Nora” De Franco

entered the gates of Heaven on January 10, 2024.

Eleanor was born in Terrasini, Sicily on February 4, 1942.  Her family immigrated to the United States in 1958.  She was a devout Catholic, wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Anthony “Tony” De Franco.  They had 4 children: Salvatore De Franco (Lyn), Jasper De Franco (Kathy), Marie De Franco-Guth (Ron) and Tony De Franco (Beth). She had 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Rosie Becker from San Diego.

In the beginning, Eleanor worked for the Hovden Cannery.  After that, she worked for the Monterey Fish Company for 47 years as a fish-filleting expert and packer, and ultimately as a supervisor of fish production.  Her hard work and dedication to her craft made her a respected member of the fishing community.

Eleanor loved cooking and baking.  She was especially known for her home-made Italian cookies!  It brought her so much joy to share her cookies with family and friends.

Eleanor will be truly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.  She will be forever in our hearts.  May she rest in peace.
