Obituary of Rosa Angela Cricchio

Rosa Angela Cricchio was born on March 27, 1940 in Monterey, California, to Angelina Balesteri and Philip Friscia. She was the oldest of 3 children, and grew up San Francisco, California, San Pedro, California, and eventually the family settled in Pacific Grove, California.

On January 28, 1960, she married Damiano Cricchio, of Sferracavallo, Sicily, at Saint Angela’s Church, and together they lived in Monterey until his death in 1987. She remained in Monterey for the next 34 years, and spent the last 4 years of her life back in Pacific Grove.

She initially stayed at home to raise her children, while assisting in the operations of the family’s real estate industry investments. Later, she worked a variety of jobs in the retail sales industry. She was an active member of the Carpenter’s House church for many years. Her interests included crocheting, knitting, gardening, and water color painting. She enjoyed spending time with numerous friends and family members socializing and traveling. She definitely lived life on her terms.

She was mother to Rose Marie Cricchio-Maiorana (Sal Maiorana), and Axil Cricchio, grandmother to Drake Nienow and Luna Nienow, sister to Josephine Welborn, and Phyllis (Ken) Kramer, aunt to Philip Crawford, Sarah Kramer Fields (Rob) Fields, and Kelly Kramer.

She passed peacefully, at the age of 83, on July 4, 2023, in Pacific Grove, California.
