Obituary of Esther Minglana Delos Reyes

Esther Minglana Delos Reyes, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 26, 2022.

Born Felicisima Gutierrez Minglana on the 1st of July, 1942 in Manila, Philippines, she was the daughter of Alejo, Sr. and Clara Minglana. She is preceded in death by her husband Ruperto "Jimmy" Delos Reyes.

As a young woman, Esther was good friends with Cora Delos Reyes and another friend named Thelma. They would go to the movies and attend church almost every Wednesday for mass. Cora's brother, Jimmy, started to like Esther and they began their courtship.

In September of 1962, Jimmy joined his older brother, Albert, in Los Angeles, California. After receiving an associates degree from Philippines university, Esther and her family moved to Seaside, California soon after.

Jimmy would constantly make long distance calls and drive up north to be with the love of his life. Eventually, Jimmy and Esther were inseparable and after about four years of courting, she took his last name. They married on July 25, 1964.

Esther strived to excel in all her endeavors and knew it was privilege to make her dreams come true in America. She began as a teller at Bank of America but saw more opportunity working for the Civil Service. She worked at Fort Ord as a secretary then moved on to work for the Naval Environmental Protection Research Facility as an administrative clerk. She then worked at the Naval Post Graduate School where she worked as the secretary for the Commandant. She retire in April, 2006.

During their retirement, they traveled. They were fortunate to have had the experience of going to Europe. A far journey but one they never regretted. 

On April 16, 2010, they moved to Las Vegas. They enjoyed their retirement time together doing as they pleased. She enjoyed sewing and he would enjoy the fitted clothes. She liked singing karaoke and he liked the entertainment. She loved cooking and he loved eating but he always gladly helped her to clean up so they could relax together. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014. But sadly, Jimmy passes away the following year...

Seven years had passed since Esther was apart from her beloved husband and missed him dearly. Her faith in God and knowing that Jimmy was always watching over her gave her the strength to carry on. On December 26, 2022 she was reunited with her soul mate and they will be together for all eternity... May they both rest in peace.
