Yolande Rene

Obituary of Yolande Rene

Yolande “Lolo” René was a caring daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on Thursday January 20, 2022, at approximately 7:15 a.m. at 91 years old. She was born on March 17, 1931 in Grand-Goave, Haiti, to Alexina René and Judge Joseph Raphael. After graduating from Elie Dubois, the prestigious professional and academic Catholic School for girls in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she pursued a nursing career. Yolande practiced her nursing profession both in her native country of Haiti and within the Tri-State Philadelphia/Delaware Valley area of the United States. Yolande proudly practiced her profession for approximately 5 decades. Yolande was a strong, proud mother of two sons, Patrick Jeanty & Hubert Jeanty, Jr. Her eldest son, Patrick, cared for his mother on bended knee until her last breath.

Yolande was a devout Catholic and long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Philadelphia, PA. She enjoyed cooking, sewing/designing clothes for her loved ones, traveling, visiting family and friends, singing, and dancing to her favorite Haitian music. Her caring heart earned her the respect and love from the Philadelphia community where she was known as “Mom” to all. She spent most of her weekends taking her sons on family outings, volunteering at the church, and participating in local community activities. Affectionately known as "Lolo", those closest to her knew her to be full of love, and their fondest memories included Yolande pouring that love into each and every one of them  in a uniquely special way.

Yolande was predeceased by her mother Alexina René, her father Judge Joseph Raphael, her son Hubert Jeanty Jr., his father Dr. Hubert Jeanty Sr., and her brother Yves Rene.

Yolande will be deeply missed by her eldest son, Patrick Jeanty and daughter in-law Kalila, her grandchildren Illiana Thomas, Kareema Thomas, Gabrielle Jeanty, Yolanda Laila Jeanty, Raymond Butler, Jasmine Jones, Hakeem Musawwir, and Miquelle Alston; her great-grandchildren Jeremy Terrell Jeanty, Nur Jones, and Xayn Jones-McGee; her sister-in-law Yanick René, and brother-in-law Gerard Jeanty and family.
