Anthony Russo

Obituary of Anthony John Russo

Anthony John Russo passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9, 2022 surrounded by family in Monterey Peninsula where he lived all his life.  He served in the Navy during the Korean war where his love of ships became a big part of his life.  He started his family, then went on to become a contractor and built his lifelong career.  He also donated a lot of time as captain of a fishing boat in Monterey for the Disabled Veteran’s, where he received several VA Awards. He loved his family, and always made sure we stayed close with each other. He was a great storyteller, and often told stories from the past or jokes that were interesting and funny - he loved being with people.  He will be sorely missed; we will treasure the memories forever.

He is survived by his children; Rosemary and Robert Calvert; John Russo; Christine and Paul Heintz; Paula and Bill Burkleo; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sister Joanne Battaglia along with nieces, Diane Simpkins and Paula Anne Plagowski and nephew, Tom Cutino.
