Eiko Karpowsky

Obituary of Eiko Karpowsky

Our precious mother, Eiko Karpowsky passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021.

Born in Kagoshima, Japan and then raised in Nishinomiya City, she was the oldest of five children. She married Leon Karpowsky while he was stationed in Kobe, Japan in the U.S. Army. They both moved to the United States where they ultimately settled down in Marina, CA.

Eiko was an ardent seamstress, highly skilled with knitting needles, a lifelong fan of many crafts, student of music, Japanese songstress on stage, and had a great fondness for her cats. Her very kind and caring ways with others was a hallmark with her many friends in her social circle. In her earlier years, she was a long term and very active member of the Japanese congregation at the First Baptist Church of Marina.

She is the beloved wife of the late Leon Karpowsky. Much loved by daughter Anna Kuramoto and son-in-law Richard Kuramoto, daughter Mary Guerra and son-in-law Dave Guerra, and son William Karpowsky and partner, Tanya Porter. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer and Kelli Kuramoto and Miranda Cole.

Eiko will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew and loved her.
