Obituary of Lucy C. Carey

Lucy at age 100 passed away peacefully at Carmel Hills Care Center. She was born in Monterey and lived 93 years in the family home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Carey and Mary Silva. Five siblings- Frances Rouch, Alice De Vito, Mabel Perkins, Idela Turano and Willard Carey. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Souza; grandchildren, Valerie Souza, Martin Souza and Annette Biggs. Six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She worked in the various canneries on the Peninsula. Lucy enjoyed her pinochle groups at the Sally Griffith Senior Center in Pacific Grove and the New Monterey Senior Center on Drake Street in New Monterey. Most of all she loved having her grandchildren and great grandchildren to come and visit. Cremation was taken care of by Seaside Funeral Home. A private memorial will be at a later date.
