Obituary of Sara C. Starks

Sara C. Starks, born on April 11, 1930, widow of the late Elmanus Starks, Jr. died peacefully on Christmas Day surrounded by her loved ones. She was a business woman, a city activist, and a member of the Fort Ord Transformation Team. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a surrogate mother to many. Sara loved children and animals, especially her pet birds, rabbit, cat and dog. She was preceded in death by her siblings, James Dungee, Cora Lee Boyd, John Dungee Jr., and Joe Dungee, as well as her brother in laws David Starks and George Starks and sister in laws Clara Walker Mozelle Walker, Blanch Jacobs, Celica Mae Halsey. Sara is survived by her children, Jayum Starks, Cynthia Starks, Steven Starks, and Kevin Starks and her step-sons, Joe Starks and Winchell Starks. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Enoch, Clyde Dungee, Grace Caldwell and her grandchildren, Josephus Witherspoon, Natalie Witherspoon, Jaleesa Starks, Shawntinia Starks, Devon Starks, Sarah Starks, Isaiah Starks, her adopted grandson, James Julius Sherrill, and her great grandchildren.
