Obituary of Laurecia Jackson

Laurecia Herbetta "Queen Laurecia" Jackson (Augustine) died peacefully in Monterey Community Hospital, on June 18, 2015 Monterey, California at the age of 76. Laurecia is survived her children, Debra L. Penn (Pettiford), Phillip E. Pettiford Jr. Richard T. Pettiford (Carmen); Douglas J. Pettiford (Lynette), Octavia Riggs, Maryjosephine Reed, Laurie Reed, Paul Reed, and her brother Troy Augustine, Los Angeles Ca. Laurecia is blessed with 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews; she is preceded in death by her loving husband Harvey T. Jackson, and Her sons Michael, King, Donald and Eric, as well as her sister Shirley, brothers Gurney, Michael, and Richard. Laurecia was born on July 7, 1938 in Muncie, Indiana to Jewell and Maryjosephine Augustine. She married the love of her life Harvey T. Jackson in 1972 and enjoyed 37 years of marriage. Her children remember her as a kind/gentle/patient/driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and to be survivors. She was accomplished at wife, mother, and caregiver. She often emphasized the important of family and the necessity of loving one another. She was a generous/witty/dedicated individual who loved the lord and ensured her children also understood the love of God. Her love for others was always apparent as many in the community affectionately referred to her as Mrs. J. She was a truth teller, which means she would tell it like is was, whether it hurt or not. She was a great woman who was loved by many will truly be missed. RIL Rest in the Lord Laurecia. A funeral is scheduled for 2pm June 22, 2015 at Seaside Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at 1128 Amador Seaside CA, 93955. Rev. Jimmy Welch will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Laurecia's life. The family would like to thank caregivers/hospital staff/etc. for their efforts/care/dedication.
