Obituary of Clyde Lafitte

Clyde S. Lafitte, 95, Passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 29, 2010. He ws born in Logansport, Louisiana to Sewell and Rosie Kibby Lafitte. Clyde was only a small boy when his father passed away. His mother raised him and his three sisters Alvie, Avis and Addie on a cotton plantation in Logansport, Louisiana. Until three weeks ago, Clyde would meet his friends at the local bowling alley a few times a week. He enjoyed being on the bowling league to laugh and enjoy good people around him. Clyde was preceeded in death by his first wife Hazel Lafitte in 1979. They were married on April 1, 1939. Clyde and Hazel have one son together, Jimmie C. Lafitte. Clyde married his second wife a few years later, Moira C. Lafitte and they were a committed couple for over 28 years. Clyde always wanted to travel the world, so in 1936 he joined the army and accomplished that goal. Clyde was a member of the A Battery 11th Field Artillery Battalion. From 1942-1945 he fought in the invasion of the Philippine Island. He was a member of the 24th infantry division association. He continued his service after WWII achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired after 20 years. Clyde and his family stayed in the Monterey area residing in Del Rey Oaks. He started his real estate broakerage business in 1962. He became president of the board of realtors in 1967. He had been an avid supporter of the local high school and colleges where he helped fund scholarships for the national board of realtors. He never failed in his kindness, caring and generosity of spirit. Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Moira C. Lafitte; his son, Jimmie C. Lafitte; Five grandchildren, Angelina F. Sukraw, Jeffery D. Sukraw, Nicole T. Balcerzak, Jamie May Lafitte and Jeanna Lee Lamas; Two great grandsons Jeremiah and Dakota Lamas; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral held at Clydes request but there will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Clyde will be cremated and scattered in Monterey Bay as he wished Donations can be given to Clydes favorite charities: The National Association of Real Estate Scholarship fund or the Boys and Girls Club of Seaside.
