Obituary of Elfriede Kate Moore

Elfriede was born Elfriede Kate Schubert on April 2, 1933 in Chemnitz, Germany, to Willy Eugen Schubert and Anna Emilia (Grosam)Schubert. She lived in Chemnitz, Dresden and Boutzen during her childhood. In 1950 she escaped to the west after living under Hitler and later the Communist after the war was ended. She lived with relatives in Wetzlar for awhile, then relocated to Badnauheim where she did various work until she was abel to get a job for the U.S.A. in motion picture service doing office work. While there she met Sgt. Willis F. Chapman from Denver, Colorado whom she married in 1955 and came to the U.S.A. when he came back after his tour of duty. She had two girls with him, Ramona and Sylvia. Romana lives in Hawaii and Syliva lives in Carmel. She divorced Sgt. Chapman in 1961 after which she met John Moore whom she later married on December 21st of the that year. On September 20, 1962 she had a son Robert who lives in Monterey and works in the electrical business with his father. She and the family first lived in Seaside for a short period before buying their first house in Marina. The lived there for 3 1/2 years, them relocated to Toro Park in Salinas where they lived for 11 years when they relocated to Carmel. That was her home until she passed away May 3, 2011. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and a son. She has one brother still living in Germany. She loved to travel and has seen most of the world.
