Obituary of Gus Robinson

Gus Robinson Jr, age 56, died at Carmel Hills in Monterey California, on Friday, July 10, 2015. He was born July 17, 1958 in San Pedro California to Fumi and his late father Gus Robinson. He graduated from the Golden Gate University with a Master of Public Administration. Gus served in the California Department of Corrections for 25 years. He was raised in Seaside, California and settled in San Rafael, California, where he worked at San Quentin Prison as a correctional officer with the rank of sergeant until retiring in 2011. Gus was a devoted supporter of Meals on Wheels, financially and with his time, he served as a coach for baseball and basketball and earned a brown belt in Judo. He was an avid runner, competing in several half marathons, and served as a reserve police officer for the Marina Police Department. Gus will be especially remembered for his generosity, spirit of adventure, and love of family and his fellow man. He always gave from the heart. Survivors include his mother Fumi Robinson, sisters, Hiromi Dearman and Judi Swansey, brothers, Byron Robinson and Willie Robinson. Viewing will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5 PM - 8 PM, and services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at Mission Memorial Park & Seaside Funeral Home, 1915 Ord Grove Ave, Seaside, California 93955.
