Obituary of Clydie B. Page

In Loving Memory of Clydie Bernice Hightower-Page Clydie Bernice Hightower was born on April 10, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Raymond and Baby Louis Hightower. Clydie meet and married Clinton N. Edwards in Lufkin, Texas in 1939 and of this union they had six children, a set of twin girls Annie Bell, Annie Marie and after almost twelve years later they had three more girls Claudette, Marjorie, Debra and one boy Clinton N. Jr. The family moved to Salinas, CA in 1948. The family became members of St. James C.M.E. Church. Clydie served in the church choir and the usher board. In later years moved back to Los Angeles, CA and after a short period of time return to the Monterey Peninsula. Clydie joined Hayes C.M.E. Church and serve in the choir and the usher board, Missionary Society, Class Leader, 2002 Usher of the Year. In 2015 Hayes C.M.E. Church honored Clydie was one of the church's lifetime member for over 65 years. Clydie was very active in the community she was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She held the office of secretary and membership chair. She was one of the founders of the Reagents Women's Social Club, a member of the Swingers Golf Club, and a Proclamation from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for 2011 Women's History Month Senior's Award. Clydie worked in various positions in the medical field, she retired in 1997. Clydie enjoyed life to the fullest by spending time with family, friends, gardening, watching westerns on television and visiting the casinos. Clydie was the matriarch of five generations. She has a total of ninety grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. On April 11, 2015 one hundred and fifty family and guess were invited to Clydie's 90th Surprise Birthday Celebration, at the Embassy in Seaside, CA. Clydie received recognition from President Obama and Michelle, Governor Jerry Brown, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Diana Feinstein, Congressman Sam Farr and Mayor Ralph Rubio, City of Seaside. Clydie Bernice Hightower-Page leaves to cherish her memory and honor her legacy, daughters, Annie Bell Yarbrough, Annie Marie Freeman, Claudette Wade (Willis), Marjorie Johnson, Debra Manning, brother Frank Hightower, sister Ernestine Afolabi, Grand, Great-Grand, Great-Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her mother Baby Lewis Jackson, father Raymond Hightower, her son Clinton N. Edwards Jr., brother Theodore Hightower, sisters Dorothy Richardson, Josephine Bowie, husband's Clinton N. Edwards Sr., and Frank Page preceded her in death. Psalm 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shell give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
