Obituary of Antonia Rubio

Monterey - Surrounded by her family, Antonia Rubio, 95, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, October 23, 2010 into the hands of her Lord and Savior. Antonia was born to Raymond and Irene Hernandez in Ballinger, Texas on July 5, 1915 and was the fourth of 11 children. On October 9, 1938 she married the love of her life, Henry Rubio, and was married for 55 wonderful years before he died in 1993. Antonia worked as a housekeeper for Mission Ranch and Casa Munras, before devoting full time to her family. She was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens Center in Seaside for over 20 years and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, being with her family and studying the word of God. Antonia is survived by her children, Angie (Tommy) Bruno of Monterey, Sally (Tony) Gonzales of Salinas, Delia (Elliot) Booker of Pacific Grove, Lily (Joe) Ramirez of Monterey, Linda (Richard) Radley of Pacific Grove, Henrietta Rivera of Monterey, and Julie (Tom) Azevedo of Monterey. She leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Natalie (Ruben) of Buena Park, Irene (Ernie) Bustamante of Stockton; sisters-in law, Mercedes Paredes and Charlotte (Larry) Feliciano, Mary Rubio and Guadalupe Rubio; a beloved niece, Carol Chavarria; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at Mission Memorial Chapel, 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside (on top of the hill), Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 9:00am to 11:00am. Services and interment will immediately follow Visitation. The reception is at St. John's Parish Hall, 1490 Mark Thomas Drive in Monterey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peninsula Baptist Church, 1116 Funston Ave., Pacific Grove, CA 93950.
