Obituary of Celia Pamintuan
Celia P. Pamintuan
Celia Pamintuan passed away peacefully in her home on July 17, 2018 at the age of 92. Celia was born on July 14, 1926 in Angeles City in the Philippines. Preceding her in death are her parents, Patricio Pamintuan and Carmen Punsalan, a brother-in-law Rogelio D. Hipolito, nephew Arthur J. Hipolito.
Celia is survived by her sister, Evangelina P. Hipolito and nephew Alan (Agnes) Hipolito, niece Ann Caparas, grandnephew Patrick Caparas and grandniece Audrey Hipolito.
Celia graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in History. She earned two Masters Degrees in English as a Second Language and Library Science from The State University of New York in Albany. Celia had a successful career working as a Librarian for the United States Army bases in Germany and in Japan. These work stations allowed her to travel extensively throughout Europe, Asia and much of the rest of the world, satisfying her passion to experience different cultures and places. Her last work assignment was in 1991 at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where she chose to retire after years of service.
Celia continued to enjoy traveling, reading and going to the theaters and movies with her group of friends during her retirement. Her family and friends describe her as fiercely independent and very engaged in social, community and cultural activities that enriched her life and those of others.
A Celebration of Life for Celia will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Mission Memorial Park Seaside Funeral Home, (1915 Ord Grove Avenue, Seaside CA 93955), beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Reception will follow immediately at 12:00 noon at Chef Lee Restaurant, (2031 North Fremont Street Monterey, CA 93940).
