Obituary of Doroteo Sidayon Magdayao

Doroteo ?Mac? S. Magdayao, a life-long Peninsula resident, passed away peacefully on May 9th at the age of 104. Originally from Antique, Philippines, Mac requested to voluntarily serve in the U.S. Army in his early years from 1941 - 1945. Upon completion of his military service, he spent his working life in the food industry employed at the Mission Ranch in Carmel for over 34 years before retiring in 1982. Mac was active in his retirement years gardening and landscaping. An avid fan of boxing and baseball, loved watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. He was dearly loved, a good man and a perfect gentleman. Mac is survived by his sons, Tony Magdayao and Carter Magdayao, daughters Rosemary Magdayao and Irma Magdayao; grandchildren Excalibur Holder and Brandon Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents Nicolas and Martina Magdayao; brothers Santiago Magdayao, Juan Magdayao, Loreto Magdayao and sister Candelaria Magdayao-Yson, all of the Philippines. The Magdayao family sincerely thanks the physicians, nurses and staff of Main East at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for their kind and sacred care. Special thanks from the Magdayao Family to Dr. E.J. Park for her kind care for Mac throughout his final years. Visitation will take place at Mission Mortuary on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm. Mass will be at 9:00am on May 13, 2011 at San Carlos Cathedral.
