Obituary of Emilia Quaglia
Emilia Quaglia passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the age of 90. She was born on January 23, 1925 in Piantedo, Italy. She came to the United States with her father to visit her sister in Castroville where she met future husband, Ernest Quaglia, and they married in 1950. Together they built, owned, and operated the Lone Oak Motel until they retired in 1981.
Emilia enjoyed working at the motel, traveling with her husband, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Quaglia of 47 years and her son Dennis Quaglia.
Mrs. Quaglia is survived by her son Richard (Patricia) Quaglia of Monterey, daughter Diane Luzod of Salinas; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 6 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Rosary on Friday, Oct. 9 from 5-7 pm with rosary at 7 pm, Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey. Funeral Mass on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 9:30 am at San Carlos Cathedral, Monterey.
