Obituary of Beverly Ann Suess Barton

Beverly Ann Suess Barton was born in San Jose on August 3, 1927. She passed away suddenly and peacefully on July 8, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was vibrant, active and involved throughout her life, even during her three-year bout with cancer. Bev's zest for life and love for others was evident in everything she did, from her ability to make the world around her beautiful to making family and friends feel important and warmly appreciated. Bev and her loving husband, Robert M. Barton, celebrated almost 68 years of a joyous marriage and lived at Del Mesa Carmel. They met at San Jose State University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi. They enjoyed family, friendships, traveling, and participating in many civic organizations and their church. Bev was also active in the women's service organization P.E.O., and as a voracious reader she thoroughly enjoyed her book club. Bev was known by friends and family near and far for her knack for writing creative prose or the perfect sentiment in cards and letters, and for her gift of music — she was always ready to sing in perfect harmony. Besides her husband, Bev is survived by four children, Randall, Sally, Blair and Brent. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy. She is also remembered with deep love by Austrian foreign-exchange student Herta, who became another member of the family. Bev was a unique, engaging, beautiful woman and will be forever missed. A service was previously held at their church for family and close friends.
