Obituary of Anthony F. Sorci

Anthony Sorci (Nino) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1 after a lengthy illness. Nino was born in 1933 to Fred and Mary Sorci. He graduated from Monterey High and then joined the Navy. He served on the USS Yorktown during the Korean War and after four years returned to Monterey and attended Monterey Peninsula College. He went to work for the city of Monterey and retired as a supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department 40 years later. Nino was well respected by all of his coworkers for his leadership abilities. As a young boy Nino could always be found at the golf course, and even caddied at the famed Bing Crosby Golf Tournament. In his later years Nino continued to enjoy golfing in Pacific Grove with his cherished friends. Nino was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeanell Easter Sorci, and his beloved granddaughter, Jazzy Easter. He leaves his sister, JoAnn Davis, nieces Dawn and Dana, children Maria and Marc Sorci, and stepchildren Jim, Steve, and Karla Easter. He is also survived by his grandchildren Russell, Roxanne, Tony, Danny, and Dustin, including great-grandchildren Jannessa, Levi and Gavin. The Family would like to thank the Seaside Browns for their continued friendship and support, as well as the staff at Community Hospital of the Monterey peninsula for their sensitivity and care during Nino's final days. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be at 6:00 PM and Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday July 8 and the Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM the following day, July 9 both at Mission Mortuary, 450 El Camino El Estero, Monterey.
