Obituary of Richard Sears

Richard Anthony Sears, resident of Carmel Valley, passed on June 24, 2015 at the age of 73, after a lengthy illness. Born on January 15, 1942, Richard married the love of his life, Phyllis Redfield in 2005 and was surrounded by family and loved ones at his passing. He earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Goteborg, in Sweden and worked as a computer engineer for 21 years for Volvo in Goteborg before returning to the Bay Area where he worked as a computer analyst. Richard's lifelong passion was the study of Mathematics, Neuro-science, and Space and Time. He also wrote beautiful poetry. He belonged to the Monterey Bay Friends of CG Jung and enjoyed participating in the Yoga Center of Carmel Discussion Series. He loved spending time with his dog, Harrison Shimoda Yoda, PhD (Pretty happy Dog). Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, sisters Margaret (Tony) Palma of Alamo, CA and Marilyn (Ben) Dalstra of Prosser, WA, four nieces and three nephews, six grand-nephews and three grand-nieces, along with six step-children and 13 step grand-children. He was loved by all. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be on Monday, July 6, at 2:00pm at the Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel, on Carmel Valley Road. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Carmel Valley Village Community Park, the Monterey Bay Friends of CG Jung, or a charity of your choice .
