Obituary of Michael Joseph Roach II

Michael J. Roach II, age 86, passed away June 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Michael was born June 8, 1929 in Bronx, New York. Michael joined the U.S. Army where toward the end of an 8 year military career brought him to Fort Ord. There he met the love of his life of 58 years, the former Eleanor Stracuzzi; married Oct. 27, 1957, making Monterey their home. Michael started his 38 year career with Safeway Stores in 1959, retiring as produce manager at the Carmel Store. He enjoyed working in his garden, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Michael is preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen Cohn and Theresa Antezzo. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, brother Edward Roach, son Michael III, daughter Rose Ellen Hughes, 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter and many nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank Hospice, Westland House and Carmel Hills Care Center for their great care during these past few months. Viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary on Monday, June 29 from 4-6 pm. Funeral Service will be at Santa Rosalia Chapel - San Carlos Cemetery on Tuesday, June 30 at 1 pm.
