Obituary of Jack Lee McKelvey

Jack L. McKelvey, age 86, passed away on June 20, 2015, after a brief illness. Jack was born on March 22, 1929 in Grand Junction, Colorado. The family moved to California in the early 1940s. Later after completing high school in southern California, Jack joined the Army, serving during the Korean War. When Jack was discharged from the service, he made Monterey his home, becoming a long time resident. Jack managed the NCO Club at Fort Ord, as well as the Presidio Officers' Club. Jack went on to perfect his bartending skills at many local establishments including: The Clock, Cancun, Gold Fork, Islands, Jimmy's American Place, On the Park, The Point, The Firehouse, and finally at the Crown and Anchor. Jack was preceded in death by brothers Norris and Richard McKelvey. He is survived by brother, Don McKelvey; nephew Larry McKelvey; nieces Sharon McKelvey, Connie (Michael) Bustos, Dana (Allen) Dodge; and many great-nephews/nieces. The family would like to especially thank Albert Terris, Donald Graham, Howard Pierson and Marcia Reaume for their love and devotion to Jack, as well as the many others who shared Jack's life. No funeral service will be held, as per his request. A gathering to honor Jack may be forthcoming. Jack left us appropriately at 1:30am, "Last Call."
