Obituary of Joseph Pironi

Joseph Pironi, age 85 passed away at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula on Monday April 6, 2015. In the company of his wife, sister-in-law Mary and niece Francesca. Joseph Pironi was born March 17, 1930 in Marettimo, Sicily. He came to the United States of America in 1948. He went to Monterey Peninsula College and graduated from San Jose State. He married the love of his life Vitina Arancio in 1955. They were married 59 years. Joseph worked at Bank of America for 40 years. He retired as the branch manager from the Carmel Center Bank of America in 1992. He also worked at the Monterey, and Seaside branches . He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors and Big Sur was his favorite get away. He enjoyed cruising with his wife, family and friends and loved the buffet line. He belonged to the Compari Club, Italian Catholic Federation, The Elks Lodge, The Knights of Columbus, and San Carlos Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rosetta Pironi Petrini. He survived by his loving wife Vitina Pironi, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Ventura Manuguerra, and Peter Arancio, his cousin from Italy, Guiseppe Pironi . He survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins from Monterey, California and Italy. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 6-7 pm at Mission Mortuary. Rosary Service will follow at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be at San Carlos Cathedral, Monday, April 13, 2015 at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the San Carlos Cathedral Cornerstone Campaign.
