Obituary of Hermine Maria Castleberry

Hermine Castleberry, born in Germany July 2, 1919 went to her heavenly rest November 24, 2014, in Pacific Grove.Hermine, who worked for many years at the Hector D. Smet Bakery, finished her working years as a housekeeper at Canterbury Woods in Pacific Grove. While working, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved cooking, and working around the house. According to Leonard, her husband of over 55 years, "Her home was her life and she kept it immaculate!" The two of them enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany to visit with her family. Leonard, who worked for PG&E and finally retired, acknowledged that she was a wonderful wife who took good care of him through their many years together! Her faith in God was important to her and she took comfort in knowing that her final "home" will be with her Heavenly Father.Hermine is survived by her husband, Leonard, two daughters, Sieglinde Kast of Germany, Bridget Willis of Louisiana and numerous grandchildren in both Germany and America. The family, who is very grateful for the many expressions of love throughout the community since Hermine's death, would like to express their deep appreciation to Victorian Homecare, and The Visiting Nurses Association Hospice for all the wonderful care at the end of Hermine's life. A Graveside Service will be held at the Monterey Cemetery, Friday, December 5th at 1pm. The family has requested that any memorials be given to the VNA Hospice.
