Dear Sally,
Thinking of you and the family at Christmas. We always loved when Jean would tell us you were coming for a visit, and count the days for your summer vacation. Jennifer and EJ were just in grade school when they became fast friends swimming at the Beach Club. Your Mom and Dad were always so kind and loving to us. They will both be remembered with much love
Our deepest sympathy,
Tom, Sharon & Jennifer Pelino

And from Australia…..
Ideas Incorporated. How proud we were of our mothers, right, next generation? Now all three of them are up there organising everyone else. They were trailblazers for sure. And really, do you remember the Ladies Encampment?? I see many children of those women have written here…Wild nights of laughs, cards, and bourbon.
I send my love, Chips and Sally, and so many happy memories.
Much love, Pinky Lawrence Watson

Dear Chip and Sally,
Apple and Polly and Jean Anne: three fun loving, witty, brilliant best friends forever. Perhaps they are finally all in heaven together (your mother surely arranged that part) playing bridge and laughing. That was the soundtrack of my childhood.
I send you deepest sympathy for your enormous loss. All best wishes and hopes that you and your families are well.

Jean was a legend: smart and savvy in the retail world. Her greatest love, however, was for her husband Carl and her children Sally and Chip. She will not be forgotten by any of us who had the honor of working with her. Joanna Budenz Gallegos

Dear Sally and Family,
I am so sorry to learn of your mom's passing. I liked your parents very much. When my kids were young I would often see your Mom at St.Vincent de Paul or on Chestnut Street and she always greeted me with her warm smile and happy voice. She was very lovely. Sending love and prayers, Ami Smith Keane

Dear Sally and Chip,
I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a wonderful lady and your parents were such dear friends of my parents. I have fond memories of your parents at our house on Green Street and at Seadrift singing old songs and playing dominoes with the Lawrence's, Mailliards, Lilienthals, and Walkers. Your mother and father were loyal and wonderfully talented friends. I can still hear your mother's voice hear her laugh and see her twinkling eyes.
My brothers and I send our love and hugs.
Most sincerely,
Lucy Kent Maushardt

Dear Livingston Family
I was with Barkoff Container (3rd generation) and very proud of our business relationship for many many years. As Pres of the company one of my great pleasures was working with some of the Livingston family. Being a family business also taught me much for which I am forever grateful.
I did not know Jean well as I did work with Carl sometimes in the packaging products we provided to the Livingstion Bros. I remember when you opened a "twig" store in SF. I was so very excited for you all.
May Jean's memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
In friendship
Steve Barkoff
43 years with Barkoff Container & Supply Co. and so very proud of our relationship.

I also worked at the SF downtown store and at the Chestnut St. Store. I have such fond memories of my time there, so long ago. I will always remember her as being so professional and at the same time a real San Francisco "lady."
My sympathies to her family, especially to Sally. I remember the times we shared back then.

Dear Sally and Chip,
We were very fond of your parents. We met them soon after moving to Carmel in the 1990's...probably at the Beach Club. Carl and my husband played tennis. We were entertained at their home...your father had a wonderful collection of golden oldies he played at parties. We still have their place cards in a drawer where I recycle them...a remarkable couple. Jean was one of the most entertaining people I have ever known. Having lived in San Francisco, and known some of the people she knew, we loved the stories she told about various personalities and their lives and her connections. You can be very proud of both of them, as they were of you. We know how hard it is to lose ones parents. They did you a great service by moving to the Manor where you were not responsible for their day to day care. It was a privilege to know them. We send our most sincere sympathies.
