Obituary of Samuel Yanes

Sam Yanes, 73 passed away on October 29, 2013 after fighting a battle with lung disease. He was surrounded by family. He was born and raised on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. He worked many years in the commercial fishing industry. He loved his garage where all his pride and joy of building welding and making all kinds of inventions. His passion was showing off his Big Red 1965 Chevy truck at many car show's with all of his friends. He also loved his SF 49er's and watching Dale Earndhardt, Jr. in the NASCAR racing. Sam is survived by his wife Mary Ann Yanes of 51 years; son Sam Yanes of Santa Barbara; daughter Theresa Hufford (Charlie) of Marina; grandchildren, Bridget, Antonio and Samantha. And great granddaughter, CharleyAnn Hufford. Sisters Julie Maxinowski (Dean) of Carmel Valley; Rose Burolla (Fred) of Castorville; as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Sam's life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey. A reception will follow afterwards at The Moose Lodge in Del Rey Oaks. We will have the "Big Red", his 1965 Chevy truck there so all are welcome to bring out your cars in celebration of Sam's life.
