Obituary of Barbara Nelson Dubrasich

Barbara Nelson Dubrasich MONTEREY- Barbara Dubrasich passed away quietly after a brief illness on February 12, 2011 at the age of 89. Barbara was a graduate of UC Berkeley and married her college sweetheart, Donald Dubrasich, in 1943. They moved to Monterey in 1948 to open his medical practice. Together they raised four children and were active in the community. Barbara was a member of the Mother Goose Chapter of the Children?s Home Society and a volunteer at the Monterey Library. An avid gardener whose rose and perennial garden was often featured on garden tours, Barbara was instrumental in the founding of the Monterey Museum of Art and rose gardens at La Mirada. In addition to her love for bridge, her book and investment groups, Barbara enjoyed playing tennis until she was 86. She also loved to travel and toured the world with her husband until his death in 2006. In 2007 she took a National Geographic cruise to Antarctica and in 2008 toured Iran. Barbara Dubrasich is survived by her daughter, Joan Anspach of Piedmont, CA; sons Michael Dubrasich of Lebanon, OR and Paul Dubrasich of Lafayette, CA; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson; and one brother, Col. William LeGro (Ret.) of Herndon, VA. A celebration of her life will be held at The Park Lane, 200 Glenwood Circle, 7th Floor, Monterey, CA, at 12:00 pm on February 22, 2011. Donations in Barbara?s memory may be made to a charity of one?s choice.
