Obituary of Jacqueline McManus

Jacqueline Patricia "Jackie" McManus August 2, 1961 ~ March 27, 2011 MONTEREY - Jackie McManus passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 27, 2011 surrounded by family and a few close friends. Jackie's courage and tenacity in fighting metastatic breast cancer to the very end was an inspiration to all who knew her. Born on August 2, 1961 in Los Angeles, California to John and Catherine McManus, Jackie was a creative and outstanding student. After graduating from the University of San Diego school of law in 1986 she moved to Monterey in 1991 and began her career with Fenton and Keller, a respected Monterey law firm. Jackie and her husband, Robert Reid, married in 1992. Jackie and Robert enjoyed a life of friends, family, walking, nature, dining and wine, travel and caring deeply for Monterey. Jackie was particularly proud for being named the first recipient of the Lady Justice Award for the Lifetime Achievement in Legal Advocacy and Community Service. Proud of her Irish heritage, Jackie was a successful, hardworking advocate for her clients and family. She is survived by her husband, Robert Reid; her parents, John and Catherine McManus; and her sisters, Maureen and Ellen. Jackie was very close to Robert's family and will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law, Terry Vorell and her husband, Jim. She was particularly fond of her nephew, Connor McCarthy, who was always in her heart. Robert and Jackie extend a specific note of appreciation to Dr. Thomas Bradley for his care of Jackie over the past 10 years. All Jackie's many friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 3:00pm at the Chapel at Santa Catalina School, 1500 Mark Thomas Drive, Monterey, CA.
