Kay Sitar

Obituary of Kay Sitar

Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kay Sitar-Andrich, passed peacefully from this life early Monday morning on June 20, 2011. Kay had been a resident of the Monterey Peninsula for the past 47 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked in civil service at the Fort Ord Hospital. Born Kachiko Funabashi, in Nagoya, Japan, she worked in the clerical field at the Yokohama Naval Base where she first met her future husband, Lawrence Andrich. She then emigrated to the United States where everyone lovingly called her Kay. Lawrence and Kay had six children. Kay was preceded in death by Lawrence, and their youngest son, Allen. Kay later met John D. Sitar who became her loving husband in 2004. Kay was also preceded in death by her second husband. Spending time in her garden tending her roses and tomatoes was one of Kay?s most favorite past time, the other was shopping. She loved her cat, Samurai. Her favorite places to be were Still Water Cove and Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. But most of all, she enjoyed family gatherings. She is survived by an extensive family: daughters, Nancy of Glide, Oregon; Angeleke (Jack) Levy of Salinas; and Patricia Leach of Forks of the Salmon, California; sons, Paul (Susan) and Steve (Meri) both of Marina; nine grandchildren: Allen and Daniel of southern Oregon; Jared, Louise, Jessica, Alex, Michael, Mandy and Allen, all of Marina. Her three great-grand children, Nathaniel, Eliana and Jayce all reside in southern Oregon. To Kay our mother, grandmother and friend, who was most kind, generous and caring, ?May God Bless and Keep you Always; and May You Stay Forever Young.?
