Patrick Leo Feore, Jr (Lt Col retired) Born April 18, 1930 Died November 23, 2021

Patrick Feore, Pat, was born to Margaret Bowsher and Patrick L Feore, Sr. in Mobile, Alabama on April 18, 1930. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a proud Hoosier.

Patrick married Marilyn Feore, “Skeeter”, on May 5, 1956 in Ft. Rucker, Alabama where he was a helicopter pilot and instructor in the US Army. Pat and Skeeter were married 65 years and had two daughters: Deborah and Margaret Feore Copeland (Elster Copeland), four grandchildren: Frances Feore Copeland (Arthur Chu), Taylor Copeland, Argelia Feore, Maria Feore, and one great grandson: Eugene Chu.

Pat was educated at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, where he earned a BA in Marketing in 1954. He earned an ROTC award there and entered the Army as a second Lieutenant. He entered the US Army in July 1954 as a 2nd Lt. and retired as the commander of Fritche Army Airfield Ft Ord, August 1975. He became an aviator early in his military career and was rated as a master aviator for both helicopter and fixed wing aircraft with over 7,000 flight hours. Patrick served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and also served three tours in Viet Nam and was awarded the following medals:

Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Veteran’s Medal of Honor, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Air Medal.

Pat was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Monterey where he served on the vestry and volunteered his service where needed. He was an active member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and of the Quiet Birdman Society.

His hobbies included golf, gardening, cooking, baking and volunteer work. He was instrumental in securing the Ft Ord location for the Central Coast Veteran’s Cemetery. He volunteered at the Ft Ord Federal Credit union scholarship committee and also at Silas B Hayes Hospital.

Pat had a great sense of humor common to the Irish and was a proud father and grandfather. He was excited to welcome his first great grandchild who was born September 9, 2021, and was happy to achieve that status of great grandfather!!
