Obituary of Marie Josephine Caramazza

Marie Josephine Caramazza, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2023, after 94 years of a beautiful life. Born on October 22, 1928, to Pietro and Ramona Costanza (Melicia) in Monterey, California, Marie lived her life to the fullest and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Marie married the love of her life, Buster Caramazza, on February 24, 1946, and together, they raised their three children, Anthony, Peter, and Linda at their family home on Spaghetti Hill. She was a Pharmacy Technician for 32 years, and in her free time, she enjoyed shopping, playing cards, traveling, reading, watching San Francisco Giants baseball games and spending time with family and friends. Marie's door was always open and there was room for everyone at her table. Her contagious smile would light up any room and she was always dressed to impress. We are forever grateful for the unconditional love she gave us.

Marie is survived by her sister Elizabeth Grammatico, daughter Linda Casey (Shawn), and son Peter Caramazza (Debbie). Her grandchildren, Peter Caramazza (Amy), Jenna Poma (Greg), Jeremy Caramazza, Cory Walters (Samantha), and Ryan Casey, and her ten great-grandchildren, Caleb, Lauren, Jaycie, Alexa, Jack, Jackson, Max, Maddux, Aria, and Isla, will all cherish her memory forever. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she loved dearly.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Buster Caramazza. Their souls met again on April 27th, exactly 22 years apart. Her son Anthony Caramazza, brother Paul Costanza and companion Mike Martorella.

Marie's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Sunrise of Monterey, the exceptional Dr. Richard King, Hospice of the Central Coast and Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula for their compassionate care in her final days.

Marie's kindness, love, and generosity touched the lives of many, and she will be dearly missed. We will celebrate her beautiful life with a funeral mass on Monday, May 8th, at 1:30 pm at San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey, with a reception to follow at the Elks Lodge, 150 Mar Vista Drive, Monterey.
