I found my cousin Merle Jean through the Chickasaw Cultural Center where she had added an email in 2009. I had went to the Chickasaw Cultural Center Jan. 2022 and they gave me a copy of her email. I spoke to Merle Jean on the phone in Jan. of 2022, she was so excited that a cousin tracked her down! After that we started communicating via email and shared a lot of our Chickasaw family information. I just found out about her passing as I hadn't heard from her in awhile. From the short time I knew Merle Jean I knew she was a wonderful sweet person. She was so proud of her Chickasaw heritage and she even remembered what my Great Grandfather Loman Brown's house looked like in Pauls Valley, OK. He was her Uncle. I am saddened that I won't be able to visit with her but I am grateful for the time I did have sharing emails and pictures back and forth, I am sure you all miss her dearly. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. I had the privilege to work along side of Merle for many years at Macys. She was always so positive and easy to talk to. One of the sweetest people I’ve known. Her belief in God was always evident with how she handled herself and those around her. A truly beautiful woman. May she rest in peace
