Willie Sheppard

Obituary of Willie M Sheppard

Willie Mae Sheppard was born in Crockett, Texas on January 1, 1932, to Edgar and Olivia Mosely, both now deceased. She was raised in Avondale, Arizona but eventually made her way to California. Willie Mae Sheppard was known by many family and friends as "Mel'. She was married to the late, Harold Bishop Sheppard and they made Seaside, California their home and permanent residence.

Mel was preceded in death by her parents: by siblings, Mae Bell Stewart of Houston, TX; brother; Claude Mosely of Menlo Park, CA; Juanita Mosely of Seaside, CA; Ernestine Mosely Wilder of Tucson, AZ, and Edgar "Duke" Mosely of Seaside, CA.

"Mel" and her husband, who most all friends and family who were close to him call him "Shep", were very loving and giving to others within their family and community. In agreement with her husband Shep, they both provided care for several of their family members from youth up through their adult lives; Brenda, Marvin and Andre at a very yound age. When Brenda had her first-born child, Willie and Shep took him into thier loving care as their own child and helped assist Brenda in raising Sean Hand as though he were their biological son until he became an adult.

Willie was very active in her church and community. She was a member of the Christian Memorial Tabernacle Church of God in Christ Church, under the Pastoral leadership of Dr. Samuel E. Gaskins, Sr. for over 35 years until her departing. She loved her family and her church family members in the utmost way. Willie served Christian Memorial Tabernacle over the years in the Christian Memorial Gods Choir as a faithful "Alto" under the leadership of former Minister of Music, Brother Bobby Peoples.

She was a member of the Deaconess Board, under the leadership of late, Deaconess Evelyn Wagner and Mother Deola Booker. Mother Sheppard served as a Youth Advisor for the Youth YPWW Friday Night Live under the leadership of the former CMT Youth Pastor, Min. Gilbert Fletcher and Youth President, Missionary Marsha Peoples. She served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Faithful Suday School Teacher for many years at Christian Memorial.

Willie served as the President of the CMT Mothers Board in the Woment's Department, under the leadership of Missionary Madye Tyler. She was the coordinator of many of the Sunday Testimonial Worship Ministries and she will forever be remembered for her favorite Testimonial Motto and Song: "Jesus is the Answer for the World today, without Him there's no other, Jesus is the Way". She served faithfully with the Christian Memorial Cell Team, Conference Call Bible Ministry under her team leader, Missionary Mae Tyler.

Mother Sheppard was an honorary member and supporter of the community organization, "Kindred Sisters Community Outreach Association" located in the Salinas Valley in Monterey County. She loved watching the Word Channel and visiting many special church events on the Monterey Peninsula. She loved shopping and certainly spending time with her loving family, friends, and Saints. Mother Sheppard was truly a "Servant for the Lord" she loved Gods people and serving others and loved God with her whole heart.

Mother Sheppard went to be with the Lord, her heavenly Father, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 12:05 pm while receiving medical care at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula.

Mother Sheppard leaves behind those she considered to be her own children, Brenda, Marvin, and their children and Sean Hand who she raised from birth like a son. She also leaves behind her dear loving niece, Pastor Wanda Flowers of Fresno, CA., her cousin in law, who was like a sister, Luvenia "Doll" Clayborn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Auntie rest in peace until Jesus comes and we will all meet again. You are already missed!
