Obituary of Samuel Dixon Fernandez

Samuel Dixon Fernandez passed away in his home surrounded by family on November 13, 2022.  Sam (Daddy, Papa), is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cirila (Ella, Lala); his 3 daughters (Cynthia, Cheryl, and Cosette); 3 son-in laws (David, Ronnie, and Dayan), and 7 grandchildren (Riley Samantha, Nolen Erick, Caitlyn Isabella, Campbell Davidson, Adrian Louis, Alyssa Lauren, and Micaiah Samuelssen).

He was born in Baguio City, Philippines on September 16, 1943 to Roman Fernandez and Laura Dixon. He is also survived by his siblings: Estella MacKenzie, Mercedes Balinsat, Joseph Fernandez (Sally), Naty Doyle, Jeanne Biddles (Hank), and nephews and nieces.

Sam loved his family and worked hard his whole life to provide a good life for them.  He instilled the importance of education in his children and ensured that all 3 daughters earned their college degrees.  He doted on all of his grandchildren and was a very active part of all their lives.  He was a valued employee of the Monterey Salinas Transit where he retired after 33 years as a Master Mechanic. Sam will be dearly missed by his loved ones.

A viewing will be held on November 23, 2022 at Mission Mortuary and Memorial Park in Seaside, CA. Family and friends are encouraged to visit from 10:00am to 3:00pm.  No food is allowed in the chapel, but water will be provided outside. The family requests that all attendees wear masks when inside the chapel at all times to protect the health of all.

The Fernandez family has requested face coverings to be worn by all guests and staff members inside the Mortuary Chapel. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
