Angelina Troia

Obituary of Angelina Ann Troia

Ann A. Troia of Monterey passed away peacefully in her sleep September 22, 2022 at the age of 96 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born September 19, 1926 in Pittsburg, CA to Les and Frances Costanza.  Ann is survived by her children: Paul (Gail), Kathy (Dirk),

Chris, Fran (Ramiro), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, her sister Rose Acquaviva (Joe) and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Horace Sollazzo, Anthony Troia, brother, Anthony Costanza, sister, Catherine Compagno and loving friend Henry Linares.

During World War II she worked as a telephone operator and as a young widow with two small children worked at the canneries.

Ann was a member of San Carlos Cathedral, the Italian Catholic Federation and had previously been an active member of the Civic Club and several other organizations.

Her generous spirit and bigger-than-life personality blessed her family and friends. “Grandma’s house” was the destination of countless celebrations and holidays where love and laughter were shared. Ann lovingly hosted gatherings leaving our hearts and belly’s full.  As a fabulous cook and baker, her legacy is a love for delicious Italian food. Ann lived her life to the fullest, enjoying traveling, cruises, trips to Reno and Chukchansi, well into her 90’s. She was a fashionista with a spunky sense of humor and flare for life. Among other wonderful things, she will be remembered for her love of shopping, enjoying highballs and her signature pose for pictures. She leaves us with a beautiful array of cherished memories and we will miss her greatly.

A special thanks to her kind and compassionate doctor, Richard E. King and Dana Balesteri for her loving companionship and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
