Obituary of Anthony "Tony" Tumbaga Moises
Anthony, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on May 1st. He went peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Tony was born in Junction City (Fort Riley), Kansas and became a lifelong California resident when his parents settled in Seaside in 1962. While he had a long and varied professional career, he was truly dedicated to the operational management of the family-owned residential properties for over 32 years.
A 37-year Miss America program volunteer and mentor, Tony emceed local competitions across the state and trained contestants in interview training and speaking skills. Many of these contestants went on to become state titleholders and compete at the annual Miss America scholarship program. The annual Tony Moises Memorial Award for Outstanding Interview was established for the Miss California candidate receiving the highest score in the interview phase of competition. He was so beloved by these young women, that he was asked to officiate at a number of their weddings. Tony met his love of twelve years, Negda Alvarez, through her daughter, Felicia - one of his mentees.
More than the sum of his many great accomplishments, Tony’s legacy will be the love and passion he had for those persons closest to his heart and his soul.
He is survived by his mother, Justina Moises; brother, Roger Moises (Vivian); and niece, Taylor Moises. He was preceded in death by his father, Anatalio Moises.
