Obituary of Vernon Dale Leischer

On February 1st Vernon Dale Leischer passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92. Vernon was born and raised in Stanton Wisconsin. In 1948 Vernon enlisted in the Army and spent training at Ft. Still OK. He was a member of the National Guard, Merchant Marines and Army. He then headed to Occupation of Germany where he spent the next 9 ½ years, Alaska for 5 years, Vietnam 1966-1967, a WWII Veteran, and he then ended up in Fort Ord, California from 1967-1968 as Drill Sgt. Vernon retired 20 years in the US Army.

Vernon and his then wife Doris, were business owners at One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners Marina Shopping Center from 1975-1985.

Vernon was an avid volunteer and spent countless hours of his time with the following organizations and lifetime member with more than 50 years V.F.W. Post 8679, American Legion Post 591 and Monterey Peninsula Ave of Flags Bingo.

Vernon is survived by his best friend and wife, Racheal Leischer, 3 step-children, an adopted daughter, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents Mahlon and Alpha Leischer, Doris, his 1st wife of 52 years, and granddaughter Rose.

Visitation will be held at Mission Memorial Park and Funeral Home on Friday February 25 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. Burial will follow at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors beginning at 11:00 am.
