Obituary of Annie Marie Balesteri

Annie Marie Balesteri was born on January 13, 1924 to Frank and Mary Carmenita. She was a lifelong resident of Monterey, and passed away at home peacefully in her sleep January 19, 2022.

 

Annie married the love of her life, Peter P. Balesteri, in 1943. They were able to marry with special permission during Lent. She married and then worked on Cannery Row packing sardines, and at The French Laundry until Peter returned back to her from the Service.

 

Annie and Peter had four children. Annie was a dedicated homemaker and an extraordinary baker. She always had tins of biscotti or different Italian cookies!

 

She attended mass every morning at San Carlos and was a devout parishioner. She led the rosary immediately following mass for decades, and was a lifelong member of the Altar Society.

 

She had two main loves in her life, her family and her church. Annie was preceded by her husband Peter, grandson Aaron,

daughter in law Michelle, daughter Josephine, and son Manuel.

 

She is survived by her sons Frank (Valerie) Balesteri and Peter Balesteri; her daughter in law Diane Balesteri; her grandchildren, Jennifer Balesteri, Frank Balesteri, Jordan & Maryann Murdock, Alisa, Kristina, and Peter Joseph Balesteri; and great-grandchild Scarlett Balesteri. She is also survived by her brother, Jack (Luanne) Carmenita.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb 3rd at 5 pm, a rosary will begin at 6pm at Mission Mortuary, Monterey.

 

The funeral will be held Friday Feb 4th at 10:00am, at San Carlos Cathedral.
