Lanny Olis

Obituary of Lanny P. Olis

Born July 14, 1958, a long time resident of Seaside, CA passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 20, 2021 at 2:54 P.M. at Salinas Memorial Hospital at the age of 63.

Lanny is survived by his two sons Gabriel and Moses, and four Grandchildren Aliza, Gabrielle, Isaiah, and David. Lanny was the third born among 6 Siblings; Leo Sr., Lita, Mercy, Alvin, and Danny.  Lanny’s Parents Atilano and Marciana came to the United States from the Philippines in the early 50’s and reside permanently in Seaside, CA.  Lanny Graduated from Monterey High School class of 1976 where he played football being a standout Offensive Lineman and was recognized as the Team Captain.

After attending a few years at Fresno State University and becoming a father, Lanny worked as a Security Manager at Macy’s in Monterey, CA then moved to Sacramento, CA for several years while raising his 2 sons alongside his brother Danny.  In 1998, Lanny moved back home to Seaside, CA where he essentially became actively involved in the community serving the City of Seaside as a volunteer for the Neighborhood improvement commission and was also elected as the Co-Vice Chairman for the Community Development Advisory Committee.

Lanny was known for his big heart, sense of humor, and always dressing sharp in fine suits, crisp shiny shoes, and a matching Godfather Hat. Lanny had a unique way of connecting with everyone that he encountered. Lanny was always the life of the party, especially when the band he managed, B.T.A. (Back Together Again), was performing and he would be on the dancefloor getting his groove on, having the time of his life.

Lanny loved cooking his mother’s Filipino recipes and became passionate about keeping her legacy after she had passed away, through her famous Lumpias.  With countless hours of prepping ingredients and hundreds of thousands of Lumpias rolled by hand, Lanny became throned as “The Lumpia King.”  In addition, Lanny loved to tend to his garden every morning and enjoy evenings with his family and friends, chillaxin’ fireside in “The Lounge.” He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
