Obituary of Carlease Jones

Carlease Jones was born December 11, 1927, in San Augustine, Texas to Harrison Jones and Fannie Cartwright Jones. He was the tenth of twelve children born to this union. He attended elementary school in San Augustine and graduated from E. J. Campbell High School in Nacogdoches in 1947. He joined the military after high school. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life and married Anna Marie Karcher on November 18, 1954. There were no children born of this union. He was career military and served his country 32 years, earning the rank of Sergeant Major. He lived in Seaside , California until his death. Carlease’s quest for knowledge led him to numerous universities where he received associate, bachelor, master, and doctor’s degrees. He attended Monterey Peninsula College (Associate in Arts, 1978), University of Maryland (Bachelor of Arts, 1980), Boston University (Master of Education, 1987), University of Southern California (PhD Sociology, 1987), and Pacific Western University (PhD Education, 1987). He is preceded in transition by his beloved wife, Anna Marie, his parents, his sisters: Jo Jones Roberts, Bonnie Fay Jones, Gladys Jones, and his brothers: Ellis Jones, Elton Jones, Sam Jones, John C. Jones, and Harry Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory brothers: Vonnie Ray Jones, Vonnie Roy Jones of San Augustine, Texas , a sister, Farris Jones Bolton of Houston, Texas and a host of nephews and nieces, and friends.
