Every now and then, special people enter your life and find a permanent place in your heart. Cornelius Kelvin Wright was one of those people for me. Although we were not related by blood, he was family to me.
As the years passed one by one turning into decades, Kelvin remained eternally young to me. Not say that he wasn’t strong and resilient because he was. He overcame obstacles that I’m not entirely sure that I would have been able to do under any circumstances. I guess, young at heart describes him best, that little laugh that would always crop up during any conversation, unrelenting kindness and generosity and the ability to make you feel special and welcomed, that child like smile that always came straight from the heart... these were the traits that always amazed me and they never left him, they never faltered.
Thank you kelvin for all those delicious baked goods and treats you sent me every single year for decades, for all the beautifully wrapped gifts you did for Theresa, for letting me stay in your room when I would visit, for taking short walks with me , going to the movies, watching TV, just keeping me company and lifting my spirits. So, grateful to have known you and you will forever be in my heart.
My sincere condolences to the family and especially Theresa and Carla who were there for Kelvin every single day offering support and advocating on his behalf. I’ve always admired how caring and fiercely protective you are of each other . Don’t think anyone could have done a better job of taking care him. Hope you find some comfort in that. May God be with you and guide you through this difficult time
