Obituary of Juanita P. Alejo

Juanita Pongos Alejo, passed away quietly at her home in Marina, California on January 17, 2020, surrounded by her children, family, and all who loved her. Juanita was born in the Philippines on July 12, 1922. She was married to Roque Alejo until his death in 1989. Juanita had 13 children, 10 survived. Roque and Juanita brought 7 of the 9 children to the US in 1966. Two of their children were married and stayed back in the Philippines and she gave birth to her last child in the US. Juanita was a seamstress for the Holiday Inn for over 20 years until her retirement. She also was a tailor and made numerous wedding dresses and gowns. She spent many of her years always close to her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite past times was to play bingo, slot machines, and cooking for the family. Although Juanita had many children and grandchildren, she never hesitated to welcome anyone to her home and called her “Lola” which means grandma. She is survived by her remaining 9 children, 25 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren. She is loved and will be missed by everyone who has graced her presence. 

 

Services to be handled at Mission Mortuary in Monterey -

Viewing on Tuesday January 21st, 2020 begining at 2:00 PM

Service to be ran by FR. Ron Green begining at 3:00 PM 

Celebration of Life to conclude.
