Maggie Sue Richardson, a resident of Seaside for 57 years, slipped away quietly and peacefully on January 5, 2018 at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Maggie began her life journey in Beatrice, Alabama on July 2, 1924. She was the 4th of nine (9) children born to Joseph P. and Maggie Lee (Pierce) Montgomery. Mrs. Richardson completed her BA in Early Childhood Education at Laverne College and began her professional career as a teacher of young minds at Operation ShoeString in Seaside. For most of her career, she was a pre-school teacher with the Monterey Unified School District at the Seaside Children's Center. She loved children and they loved her back. Mom retired in 1995. Maggie was an active member of Hays Chapel, CME Church where she served faithfully as a member of the Women's Missionary Society, Stewardess Board, Sunday School teacher and, early on, as an exuberant though off-key member of the Senior Choir. Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Richardson, her parents, seven of her eight siblings, and many friends. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: six children; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister; many other relatives, and a host of loving friends in her church family and community. A Funeral and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018; 11:00 am at Hays Chapel, CME Church, 625 Elm Street, Seaside 93955.
