Obituary of Nicolas Alvarado

Seaside- Nick Alvarado, 90, peacefully passed away at this home with his family beside him. Nick was born September 10, 1923 in Gonzalez, California. Nick was a lifelong resident of the Monterey Peninsula. He attended Bay View Elementary School and Monterey High School. Nick served in the United States Army 4230th Quartermaster Battalion during WWII where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a proud member of the American Legion post 591 in Seaside. Upon his honorable discharge, he was employed by the Naval Post Graduate School as Head Groundskeeper for 30 years. He is survived by the daughter of his heart, Colleen (Brett) Nielsen of Seaside, Twin brother Pete Alvarado and sister Virginia Lucero. Two granddaughters, Brittney Nielsen and Crystal Nielsen Clezie. Three great grandsons, Hunter, Ari and Jett and a host of nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by hi parents Pedro and Angela Alvarado, brothers Laol, Phil and Manuel Alvarado and sister Florence Trujillo.
