Obituary of Johnny Chioino

Johnny Chioino a well known lifetime Monterey Peninsula resident passed away unexpectedly on February 8th at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. John's parents were Almondo and Frances Chioino were one of the founding families of Seaside, and brought forth a family of 13 children, brothers Almondo Jr, Richard, Patrick, Michael, Edward, William, James and Robert and sisters Arlene Shake, Mary Ann Carbone, Gloria Scott and Sheena Croquet with numerous nieces and nephews. John leaves behind his wife Cheryl of 31 years, and a legacy of 4 children, 3 sons, John Chioino Jr. and Jason Scott Chioino Eric Martin and daughter Heide Martin. He also leaves behind his beloved Grandchildren Angelika, Johnny  Marie, Jason Chioino Jr, Harper Jade Chioino and Michael Martin, as well as Great Grandson Kayson Seaside Chioino. Johnny worked for many years as a skilled Journeyman carpenter and retired from Local Carpenters Union 605. Johnny was known as a hard worker and worked on many projects all around the Peninsula. John was well loved by many and he will surely be missed. Services will be held this coming Monday at Mission Mortuary located at 450 Camino El Estero in Monterey from 5-8 pm. Services will resume the following day, February 19 at 1 pm at the Rosalia Chapel inside the San Carlos Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4pm at the Seaside American Legion located at 1000 Playa Ave. The family wish to express their gratitude and thank's for the outpouring of well wishes, love and support from friends and the community.
