Obituary of Rose Bernal Lucido

Rose Bernal Lucido Rose passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 18Th. 2010. She was 93. She was born in San Francisco, Ca. on July 31, 1917, one of eight children born to Manuel, and Rosario Solis. At an early age her family moved to New Monterey. She was always fond of recalling her happy days with her sisters, and friends in the old New Monterey neighborhood. She attended Bay view elementary school. Her first employment was in the Sardine Canneries. She later went on to waitress at Rappa's, Cadamatories, and the Golden Tee restaurants. Rose married Erasimo "Truckee" Lucido on February 27, 1938. They had three children, Marie, Carmelita, and Paul. Their enjoyment always revolved around their children, their very close friends, and dancing. They were naturals on the dance floor. Rose was an excellent cook. Although Spanish, she was best known for her authentic Italian food. You never visited Rose without he first question being, have you eaten yet? Upon retirement Rose and Truckee finally took the time to relax and vacation. They found ocean cruising to be their favorite, always with friends. Rose leaves her children, Marie (Raoul) Bruno, Carmelita (Michael) Croft, and Paul (Marian) Lucido. Seven grand children, Fifteen great grand children. One great-great grand child. Many nieces and nephews. One brother Joseph (Sannie) Solis. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Erasing. Four sisters, Carmen Acevedo, Pearl Ruiz, Margaret Kucher, and Mary Lucido. Two brothers Manuel, and Sammy. Grandson Paul Bruno, and grandson in law Jayme Stoeberl. A very special thank you to Rose's care givers, Terri, Tish, and Cindy for their extraordinary, and loving care. Visitation services will be held at the Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, August 23rd. from 6.00 pm, followed by a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday August 24th. at 11:00 am, at the Saint Angeles Church, 362 Lighthouse Ave. Pacific Grove. Any memorial contributions can be made to charity of ones own choice.
